Differential Geometry Seminar: Cohomology of the moduli space of cubic threefolds and its compactifications (NOTE: Special Day)

Seminar | November 13 | 3-4 p.m. | 939 Evans Hall

 Samuel Grushevsky, Stony Brook University

 Department of Mathematics

The moduli space of complex cubic threefolds admits various compactifications, from the point of view of K-stability (proven by Y. Liu and C. Xu to be the same as the GIT compactification), as a ball quotient, or via intermediate Jacobians. We compute and compare the cohomology of these various compactifications. Based on joint work with S. Casalaina-Martin, K. Hulek, and R. Laza.
