Please join the Francophone Studies Working Group for a lunch meeting with Marie Beauchamps (Universiteit van Amsterdam) on her forthcoming book _Governing Affective Citizenship: Denaturalization, Belonging and Repression_.

The book retraces the histories of denaturalization law in France in a genealogical manner. It presents denaturalization (déchéance de nationalité) as a technology of government that instrumentalizes nationality and citizenship rights in the name of national and global security. This is not only the case for France; In Europe just as in the USA, denaturalization has resurfaced as yet another security measure in the ever-increasing array of counter-terrorism policies.
