The Plant and Microbial Biology Student Group (PMBG) hosts a special Student Postdoc Seminar on social media and science communication by Sara ElShafie and Aaron Pomerantz.
There will be snacks and coffee. Please bring a mug.
Sara ElShafie is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in the Department of Integrative Biology. She runs a workshop series, Science Through Story, that focuses on story training for science communication. She is developing the series in collaboration with artists at Pixar Animation Studios and educators at the UC Museum of Paleontology. Sara also organized a recent symposium, Science Through Narrative: Engaging Broad Audiences, with speakers from the scientific community and arts and entertainment industries.
Aaron Pomerantz is a second-year graduate student in the Department of Integrative Biology. Prior to starting his doctoral program at UC Berkeley, Aaron spent over two years leading expeditions as a field biologist and science reporter in the Peruvian Amazon.
