BERC Ad Hoc Energy Symposium

Conference/Symposium | June 14 |  Haas School: Andersen Auditorium

 Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative

This is a test; please do not actually show up to Andersen Auditorium expecting to see a symposium!

Eavesdropping on Cortical Plasticity

Seminar | June 14 | 3:30-4:30 p.m. | 125 Li Ka Shing Center

Adi Mizrahi, The Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem

 Neuroscience Institute, Helen Wills

One of the overarching goal in our lab is to understand cortical plasticity in adult circuits. This goal remains challenging because cortical neurons are functionally heterogeneous and access to specific active neurons for further experimentation is limited. In the primary auditory cortex (A1), for example, spiking responses to natural stimuli like vocalization cannot be easily predicted from...   More >

Special Analysis Seminar: Semiclassical resolvent estimates and wave decay in low regularity

Seminar | June 14 | 4:10-5 p.m. | 740 Evans Hall

 Jacob Shapiro, Purdue University

 Department of Mathematics

We study weighted resolvent bounds for semiclassical Schrödinger operators. When the potential function is Lipschitz with long range decay, the resolvent norm grows exponentially in the inverse semiclassical parameter $h$. When the potential belongs to $L^\infty $ and has compact support, the resolvent norm grows exponentially in $h^{-4/3}\log (h^{-1})$. This extends the works of Burq,...   More >
