Musical Performance by the UC Chamber Chorus : Liturgies East and WestPerforming Arts - Music | November 4 | 3-4:30 p.m. | Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive Is it possible to cultivate virtue by listening to music? As a musical complement to the exhibition Devotion, the acclaimed University Chamber Chorus, directed by Marika Kuzma, performs a concert of liturgical music from the Eastern and Western Christian traditionschants, hypnotic litanies, and elaborate polyphonic worksmeant to bring listeners to an experience of deep contemplation. The concert includes Ralph Vaughan Williamss Mass in G (1921), excerpts from the Roman Hurkos Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom III (2011), and motets by living Eastern European and American composers. $10 General Admission, $0 BAM/PFA members and UC Berkeley staff, faculty, and students, $7 Non-UC Berkeley students, 65+, disabled persons, ages 13-17 510-642-0808 |
