FOSS California Next Generation 6–8 Supporting Implementation

Workshop | July 22 – 23, 2019 every day | 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. |  Lawrence Hall of Science

FOSS Program Staff, Full Option Science System (FOSS)

 Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS)

The FOSS Project at the Lawrence Hall of Science, in cooperation with Delta Education invites you and your science leadership team to join FOSS developers and other CA educators at a 2-day Institute on supporting your FOSS Implementation at the middle school grade levels. Each district is invited to send a FOSS leadership team (3–4 people) of administrators, specialists, coaches, and lead teachers—the educators responsible for coordinating the science implementation now and into the future. This institute is for districts who have or will be adopting FOSS middle school.

The Institute will focus on the FOSS CA Planning Guides and CA Teacher Resources—tools to enhance grade-level integration and three-dimensional teaching and learning in your district.

Your team will:
• Explore FOSS Next Generation instructional segments investigating phenomena
• Use the new grade-level California FOSS Planning Guides that support teachers in providing integrated content at each grade level
• Learn about strategies to help teachers engage students in productive sense-making discussions about core ideas using science practices and crosscutting concepts
• Practice with the new three-dimensional assessment items

$8/day for parking. Registration is limited to 40 participants.
