Demystifying the Research Process: Decolonizing Methods in STEM Research (Hosted by Underrepresented Researchers of Color -- UROC)

Workshop | October 24 | 5:30-7 p.m. | Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union, Multicultural Community Center (MCC)

Ifechukwu Okeke (co-director), Ilexis Chu-Jacoby, UROC

 Office of Undergraduate Research

This workshop discusses violence committed against people of color and marginalized identities by scientific research, and how students can reclaim research and knowledge production as a means of decolonization. We aim to introduce students to various forms STEM research could take, and unpack our vital role as underrepresented students to change the direction of scientific research – by conducting research that benefits our own communities. We will provide guidance to tangibly get involved in STEM research at Berkeley, and become an integral part of the scientific community as underrepresented researchers. Free pizza will be provided.
