Proper planning for a loved one’s or your future care takes careful thought which can reduce the stress and burden on the family during a crisis. The presenters will provide valuable legal information you may want in your toolbox when managing a loved one’s care.

Kristen Southworth is a partner at Southworth Chavez & Day-Seiter in Orinda. Her firm focuses on elder law,special needs issues and trusts & estates. Ms. Southworth volunteers weekly at Legal Assistance for Seniors for which she received the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services, is a participant in the State Bar’s Educating Seniors Project, and is a member of the Alameda County Bar Association, Contra Costa Bar Association and the East Trusts and Estates Lawyers.

Kathleen Day-Seiter received her BA from the University of California at Riverside, her Masters of Social Welfare with a specialization in gerontology from the University of California at Berkeley, and her JD from Rutgers University – Newark. She worked as a medical social worker for over twenty years advocating for the needs of the elderly and disabled in both California and New Jersey prior to becoming an attorney. In her law practice, she continues to focus on these same issues.
